PCP and HP are UK car-finance agreement types with different payment and end-of-term routes. PCP may defer part of the financed amount to an optional balloon; HP generally transfers ownership after the agreement requirements, including any purchase option fee. Neither option is always cheaper.
Enter the car price, deposit, APRs, agreement term, PCP guaranteed future value (GFV), mileage and annual running-cost assumptions. Annual mileage is held constant across the agreement. Monthly payments are calculated, not entered. Compare estimated finance cash to own, average monthly outflow and PCP return/buyout routes. The model divides the entered APR by 12, excludes lender and HP option fees, and uses a default 15% annual depreciation assumption only for the resale-value illustration; vehicle condition and repair costs are not modelled. This UK estimate does not assess legal rights, affordability or creditworthiness. Use written lender quotes and agreement terms for a real comparison.
