This illustration compares estimated personal cash from the same business profit as a sole trader and through a one-director limited company. It is not a recommendation about incorporation.
The model estimates Income Tax, dividend tax, Class 4 National Insurance, employee and employer National Insurance, Corporation Tax, salary, dividends and employer pension contributions for rUK or Scotland. It assumes qualifying employer pension costs are deductible and that post-tax company profit is available and distributed as dividends. Pension value is separate from personal cash.
It excludes savings income, Employment Allowance, student-loan repayments, voluntary Class 2 payments, National Insurance on other employment, loss relief and carry-forward, associated companies, short accounting periods, benefits, other reliefs and IR35. Taxable profits are floored at zero, and the tool does not check statutory distributable reserves. Confirm your position and current rules with HMRC or a qualified adviser.
The first visit uses the editable sample. Valid query values initialize their matching fields; missing or invalid fields use the sample defaults. Editing any input writes the complete comparison into the shareable URL. Reset to sample restores the default values and removes only this calculator’s query keys. Scenarios are not saved to an account.
