| MG4 EV SE | 54.9p |
| VW Golf 1.5 TSI | 53.7p |
The sample starts with the MG4 EV SE versus VW Golf 1.5 TSI, 10,000 miles a year, five years and 80% home charging. Home electricity starts at Ofgem's 26.32p/kWh Great Britain direct-debit average for 1 October–31 December 2026; the public-charging and fuel values are scenario assumptions, not national averages. Preset prices (used as a proxy for list price), efficiency, insurance, maintenance and depreciation are illustrative; replace these and estimated resale values with your own figures. Home standing charges are excluded.
Totals include purchase/finance, energy or fuel, maintenance, insurance, recurring 2026/27 VED and resale value. When finance is enabled, the same rate and term are applied separately to each vehicle. They exclude first-year VED, servicing/repair uncertainty, grants, salary sacrifice, lease terms and personal circumstances. Recurring VED assumes a post-April-2017 vehicle first registered at the start of Year 1; the expensive-car supplement is applied in Years 2–6 using the 2026/27 £40,000 petrol/diesel and £50,000 zero-emission thresholds. Running prices, maintenance/insurance and tax rates are held flat through the projection; future inflation and tax changes are not forecast.
Company-car mode estimates BIK using the 2026/27 HMRC appropriate percentage and your marginal rate on taxable income. Choose a Scottish rate if you are a Scottish taxpayer; the result excludes payroll details and is not a tax quote. Figures are scenarios, not a recommendation.
