Estimate the 25% government bonus and compare illustrative LISA, pension, ISA and first-home scenarios.
A Lifetime ISA offers a 25% government bonus on eligible contributions up to £4,000 per tax year (£1,000 maximum bonus), with contributions and bonus limited to before age 50. This calculator compares a sample LISA projection with ISA/pension and first-home deposit scenarios; it is not a forecast or recommendation.
Enter your current age, contribution, opening balance, Cash LISA rate or Stocks & Shares growth assumption, and savings goal. A first LISA payment generally must be made before age 40 to open an account. ISA and pension comparisons use the same return and contribution years to isolate wrapper assumptions; pension tax and withdrawal treatment is simplified.
This calculator answers three questions: how much bonus your planned contributions could earn, how a LISA balance might grow under your chosen rate, and how that illustration compares with ISA/pension scenarios or a first-home deposit target.
Age 30, £4,000 contributed each year, no opening LISA balance, a £300,000 home target and a 5% annual S&S growth assumption. The 25% bonus is capped at £1,000 per tax year and contributions stop at age 50.
The projection is a scenario, not a forecast. Annual payments and bonuses are treated as invested at the start of each model year. The same selected return rate and contribution years are applied to the ISA and pension comparison so you can isolate wrapper assumptions; pension tax relief, withdrawal tax, access and eligibility are simplified. Pension comparison rates use broad 20%/40%/45% assumptions, not Scottish tax bands.
A charge-free first-home LISA withdrawal has several conditions: the property must cost £450,000 or less, be a qualifying first purchase, and the first LISA payment must have been at least 12 months earlier; other conditions also apply. The deposit chart holds the home price flat and does not confirm eligibility or mortgage affordability. The pension illustration assumes all available tax-free lump sum up to the standard £268,275 limit and taxes the remaining pot at one selected rate; prior allowance use/protection and income drawdown are not modeled. Fees, inflation, changing returns and home-price growth are excluded. An unauthorised withdrawal normally has a 25% charge on the amount withdrawn.
