Interest on UK savings accounts may be taxable after the Personal Allowance, Starting Rate for Savings and Personal Savings Allowance. This 2026/27 calculator estimates tax on gross interest using the details entered below.
Enter gross annual employment income and either annual gross interest or a savings balance and AER. The estimate applies the Personal Allowance, Starting Rate for Savings and Personal Savings Allowance, then shows estimated tax and net interest. It does not include other income, pension contributions, Gift Aid or every relief that can affect your tax position.
Employment income here means gross pay in a simplified model; benefits, dividends, rental income, multiple jobs and some Scottish interactions are not included. In Annual Interest mode, enter total gross interest across taxable accounts. The five-year projection holds income, allowances, 2026/27 tax rates and AER constant; it does not model the enacted increase in savings rates from 6 April 2027 (22% basic, 42% higher and 47% additional). The Cash ISA comparison assumes equal gross interest and does not compare provider rates, ISA eligibility or subscription limits.
